In 1987, she obtains a certificate in printmaking (universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al) but then branched into comic books. In 1988, she creates the fanzine Dirty Plotte, which featured graphic stories about her own life, dreams, and anxieties.The title is taken up in 1990 by Chris Oliveros, founder of Drawn &amp; Quarterly, who publishes it in the American comic book format. This is the starting point of significant recognition for Julie Doucet. That same year, her work is published in France by l&#8217;Association, and in 1991 she receives the Harvey Award for Best New Talent.<\/p><p>She emigrates to New York and then Seattle for a time, before returning to Montreal. She then lives in Berlin for a few years before returning home once again.<\/p><p>Julie Doucet gives up comics in 1999 to return to printmaking. She becomes a member of the Graff studio and devotes herself to engraving, screen printing, writing, collages and the production of small publications as well.However, she doesn\u2019t abandon drawing and among other things, creates a journal composed of a year&#8217;s worth of day-to-day autobiographical drawings. In 2022, Julie Doucet receives the Grand Prix at the Angoul\u00eame International Comics Festival.<\/p><p>She now lives and works in Tiohti\u00e0:ke\/Mooniyang\/Montr\u00e9al.<\/p><p>&#8211;<\/p><p>She has participated in numerous international exhibitions.<br \/>Several retrospectives have been dedicated to her: at the Tomi Ungerer Museum (Strasbourg) and the Fumetto-International Comix-Festival Lucerne (Switzerland).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ae559ff elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ae559ff\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" id=\"awards-and-nominations\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>AWARDS AND NOMINATIONS<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/h3><p><strong>2023 \u2013 ALCUIN BOOK DESIGN AWARDS:<\/strong> Second prize in the comics category for <em>Time Zone J<\/em> (Drawn &amp; Quarterly).<\/p><p><strong>2022 \u2013 GRAND PRIX DE LA VILLE D\u2019ANGOUL\u00caME:<\/strong> 49th Angoul\u00eame International Comics Festival.<\/p><p><strong>2022 \u2013 PRIX PATRIMOINE:<\/strong> Nomination for the comic anthology <em>Maxiplotte<\/em> (L\u2019Association).
